I dabbled in weight training until 2018 when I decided to take it seriously. My first bodybuilding season in 2020 brought a couple of podium placings but no major success. In 2021, I competed again and didn’t place at all.
In 2022, I took a long improvement season to build muscle and, more importantly, work on my mindset. My relationship with food had always been a struggle, and competing only made it worse. Seeking help, I worked with a counsellor who specialised in bodybuilders’ mindsets and relationships with food. That decision changed everything.
I returned to the stage in 2023 with a healthier mindset and refined physique. The result? My first overall win and, soon after, earning my pro card at nationals
My Top 3 Tips for Aspiring Pros:
1. Prioritise Your Mindset – A strong body starts with a strong mind. Take care of your mental health, build a positive relationship with food, and develop the habits of a champion.
2. Master Your Posing – You can have the best physique on stage, but if you can’t present it properly, you won’t win. Treat posing like training. Practice it consistently.
3. Build Resilience – Setbacks are inevitable but don’t define you. Learn from every challenge and come back stronger.
Keep pushing forward. The journey is just as rewarding as the destination!
