MY JOURNEY IN ICN
I started in 2019 with a goal to step on a bodybuilding stage in 2020.
I achieved that, but I learnt an important lesson: not to place so much pressure on myself for future competitions and just set goals of making it to the stage.
Unfortunately, I sustained an injury I thought would end my bodybuilding journey, and I managed to overcome this and compete in 2021, coming close to winning a national title.
In 2022, I went through my biggest mental breakdown and physical struggles. I was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder, and my marriage at the time was falling apart.
In 2023, I was set to throw bodybuilding away and leave the country after my separation, but I was guided by the right people to put my head down, and my biggest achievement was winning an international Open Title in Bali.
Then came 2024. My coach Darren and I set the goal to come in and finish the season strong.
I won my first overall in GLC and then marched into the National Championships with what I believe to be one of the hardest hurdles in Classic Physique.
I have taken on some of the best guys in the class, one after the other.
Achieving the National title and earning my Pro Card in Classic Physique was the biggest achievement and memory I will have forever within ICN.
I did all this while being a father to two and supporting my partner and her three kids as well.
On top of all this, I work in front-line emergency services.
SOME FACTS ABOUT ME:
• I love gaming and everything to do with movies.
• One of my biggest passions is crafting my posing routines and helping others to progress their own posing further.
MY TOP 3 TIPS FOR BECOMING A PRO
- Lifestyle: If you’re serious about bodybuilding and earning your Pro Card, your lifestyle needs to reflect that commitment. Training, posing, and nutrition must be a priority, which often means making sacrifices, such as socialising and taking time away from your phone and social media. The right mindset is key. Having the right family-life balance also makes preparing for shows so much easier. So make sure you plan shows alongside your loved ones.
- Feedback and Improve: After each show, seek constructive feedback, whether you win or not. Instead of focusing on why you didn’t win, gather feedback so you know what you can improve on. By gaining feedback every show, you know what areas to focus on and to come back better every time. Remember, it is always YOU VS YOU.
- Think and Act Like a Pro: Prioritise recovery, whether that’s through regular massages, rest days, or rehab, for any areas that need attention. Take the right supplements, build a strong relationship with a trusted coach (give them time to understand your body—it’s a process!), and most importantly, train your mind.
